August 9, 1920 - May 12, 2022
Annemarie Auguste Luise Koster Leukroth of Jersey City, Waldwick, and Whiting, New Jersey passed in Fishersville, VA on May 12, 2022 at the age of 101 3/4 years. She embraced each day by sharing Faith, Love, Fun, Friendship, and Good Fellowship and celebrated life to the fullest. Anne stepped across the Starting Line to begin her new chapter into the Life Everlasting; where she will be reunited with Loved Ones and surrounded by Family and Friends who preceded her. As her spirited soul took flight, she left behind the pains of an exhausted worldly body, fully spent. While filled with sadness, her son and daughter in-law, family and extended family, as well as a host of other friends and admirers wish her Godspeed in her resurrection journey into the Life Everlasting.
Annemarie was especially proud to become a Centenarian in 2020. Her many accomplishments included: a forty-two year marriage to her handsome Yeoman Second Class Navy husband, nurturing two sons, WW II civil service recognition for work performed at Westinghouse, getting a driver's license in the 1970's, serving as CFO for the family owned business, and claiming a beautiful daughter at her sons' marriage. Her hobbies included reading romance novels, cooking / baking, gardening, and finding treasures at garage sales. She moved to Virginia in 2018 to be close to family and take residence at an assisted living home in Augusta County. The secret to her longevity was steadfast independence, sharing a good laugh every day, drinking black coffee, eating lots of chocolate and ice cream, watching Hallmark movies, and laughing with "I Love Lucy." She will be well remembered for the Love, Joy, and Smiles she generously shared and for her strength and independent spirit.
Disposition:
Annemarie's ashes will be disbursed in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Point Pleasant NJ. She will swim away in a Paper Mache Turtle.
Gifting /Flowers :
The Leukroth Family thanks all for remembering Anne. After thoughtful prayer, we believe that it would be most appropriate to remember Anne by following the example she set throughout her life. To best honor Anne, the Family suggests that each person do something for someone else. Pay an ice cream treat forward to a total stranger, write a note or call someone you haven't heard from in a long time, sincerely thank that cashier / bus driver / crossing guard / nurse / janitor for doing that unnoticeable job, make a lonely face on the grocery line smile with a comment about an item they're about to purchase... etc. Make it personal for you and find your own way to accomplish your gift. When you do it... Do it with a thoughtful memory of Anne. Then tell your story by writing about your experience on the Reynolds Hamrick website under the heading "Add a Memory." This will become a personal gift only you can give to the Lasting Memory of Annemarie Auguste Luise Koster Leukroth.
