Betty (Hodges) Steele

Betty Hodges Steele, 88 of Stuarts Draft, went to find lasting peace beside her Lord and Savior on November 27, 2022 at Regency at Augusta. Born December 9, 1933 in Botetourt County, VA, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence Hodges. Betty was preceded in death by Marvin Lynn Steele, her husband of 64 years. Betty was a homemaker, wife, grandmother, taxi driver to countless events and practices, and great-grandmother. She loved raising flowers, riding her bike, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. She passed away peacefully at Regency at Augusta where she easily made many new friends. There she enjoyed playing bingo, doing crafts, listening to music and going on numerous field trips. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carey Hodges and Irvin Hodges; and sisters, Estelle Stanley, Irene Clark and Margie Moore. Surviving are sisters, Elsie Clark, Josephine Perkins and Doris Rhodes; daughter, Linda Almarode (Kenny) of Waynesboro; son, Lynn Steele (Toni) of New Hope; granddaughters, Janice Searwar (Simeon) of Lynchburg, Stephanie Berry (Chad) of Sherando and Melissa Burwell (Scott) of Stuarts Draft; and 13 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, 519 Shiloh Road, Eagle Rock, VA on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Billy Coffey officiating. There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
