Dennis Ray Simmons,Sr., 72, of Lyndhurst, died at 10:21 a.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012, at his residence. He was born on February 3, 1940, in Richmond, the son of the late Joe and Vivian Setzer Simmons.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Richmond and was a retired business owner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George A. McMahon.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Simmons; two sons, Dennis Ray Simmons Jr. of Reston, Joseph M. Simmons and wife, Melanie, of Lyndhurst; two daughters, Brenda Allamong and husband, Terry, Deborah Turbeville and husband, Richard, all of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held by family members at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 20 Williams Street Northwest, Atlanta, GA 30303.
