Dorothea "Sis" Boxler

Sis was born on October 4, 1936, in Johnstown, PA, Daughter of the late Anne and Glenn Rish.

Sis was a member of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton. She enjoyed many things in life such as craftwork, sewing, crocheting, baking and more. Most of all she enjoyed raising her children and the numerous family gatherings as they grew up and had families of their own.

She is survived by her sister, Peggy (Rish) McGough; brother in-law, Bernie McGough; and by four children including William Boxler, Janice Pence, Susan Shaheen, Charles Boxler; one son in-law, Arthur Shaheen; and one daughter in-law, Sara Boxler; grandchildren: Abby Arey, Jason Boxler, Jeremy Boxler, Kate Painter, Charlee Breeden, Kylie Muir, Abigail Shaheen, Lily Shaheen, and Brittany Coverstone. In addition to her grandchildren, Sis leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Sis also leaves behind her best friend, Peggy Desimone, who visited Sis often.

In addition to her husband, Thomas Boxler Sr, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Thomas Boxler Jr; granddaughter, MaDee Boxler; as well as her brothers, Fred Rish, Bud Rish, and Rick Rish.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 118 N. New St., Staunton with The Rev. Matthias Lusembo officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.
