Ernest Royal "Doodle" Claytor, Jr.

Ernest Royal “Doodle” Claytor, Jr., 72, of Waynesboro passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Augusta Health. Born April 2, 1948 in Virginia, he was the son of the late Ernest Royal “Brother” “Ernie” Claytor, Sr. and Savilla Elizabeth “Noots” Wright Claytor. Prior to retirement, he was employed by AMP in Verona where he worked as a supervisor and also worked for Al’s Cab. Doodle could be found almost daily at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 680 Lodge where he was a member. He was also a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309. His greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends, and watching NASCAR with Earnhardt the cat. He will be remembered by his giving ways and as a loving brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many. Doodle is survived by his sister, Kimberly K. Claytor of Waynesboro; two aunts, Sissy and Lody; a number of cousins and friends; one daughter; and one granddaughter. Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro. Due to COVID-19, all those who plan to attend will be required to wear a facemask and respect social distancing.
