Frederick Rheinhold Kobus

Fred was born in Greenfield, VA to the late Yvonne (Lane) Kobus and Rheinhold Kobus on March 27, 1939.

He graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1958 and attended Bridgewater College. Fred was married to Dorothy Crawford (Moyers) Kobus on July 28, 1962 in Waynesboro VA at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, where he was a lifelong servant of God. Fred served on various committees at the church throughout the years and acted as a Youth Leader as well. Fred was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish and hunt and for many years volunteered as a hunter safety instructor. Fred also loved birdwatching and spent hours feeding, watching and identifying various types of birds on his family land in Afton, VA. Fred worked in the Benger laboratory of the Dupont Company at Waynesboro, Virginia for 38 years.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Kobus, and, his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy.

He is survived by his son, Eric (Michelle) Kobus Sr.; two grandsons, Eric (Jennifer) Kobus Jr. and Austin (Abygail) Kobus; and one great-grandson, Emmitt Kobus.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. A private burial will be held for the family at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
