Garland R. Fulk, 85, of Waynesboro, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gloria Hicks Fulk, of Waynesboro; his son, Michael Fulk and wife, Karen, of Goode, VA; his son, Douglas Fulk and wife, Kay, of Stuarts Draft; his daughter, Carolyn Fulk, of Waynesboro; granddaughters Jessica Fulk, Lara Fulk, & Kathryn Fulk; grandson Matthew Fulk; great-granddaughter Kyra Fulk; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was born March 16, 1928, in Hampshire County, West Virginia, the son of the late Mr. Robert L. Fulk and the late Mrs. Verdie Hottinger Fulk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alva Fulk, of Timberville, VA. and sister, Neva Wittig, of Fulks Run, VA. He grew up in Fulks Run and graduated from Broadway High School in 1945. He was a WWII veteran, having served in South Korea as part of the occupation forces from 1946-47. He came to Waynesboro to briefly work for DuPont & Acme Records, and was employed for 28 years by General Electric and for 6 years by Genicom working mainly in Methods and Planning. In his retirement years he was a volunteer at the Humpback Rocks Visitor Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Home at 618 W. Main St. A graveside service with military rites by Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339 will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd, at 11 a.m., at Riverview Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren at 12 p.m. with Rev. Todd Crowder officiating.
