

Georgia was born in Augusta County to Gussie Keller and George W. Keller on August 13th, 1943. After high school, Georgia went to Nursing School and began a nursing career that would span the next 56 years. She started as a psych nurse in the Washington DC area before returning to the Valley and working at Waynesboro Hospital as the head of the CCU, and at Martha Jefferson Hospital as a cardiac pharmacology instructor. Throughout her career, Georgia fought hard for her patients and touched too many lives to count. In her spare time, Georgia loved to camp and hike, enjoying time outdoors. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting, as well as reading. By far, her greatest joy was her family, whom she adored. She especially loved doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Milton Klotz; a nephew, Richard Klotz; and two grandsons, Dustin Keller Nelson and David Painter.
Georgia is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Floyd Harrison Nelson; as well as her children, Robert Nelson and wife Katie of Craigsville, Joseph Nelson of Augusta County, and Christina Lucas and husband Matthew of Waynesboro. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Damion Nelson, Michael Bowen, Kayla Abshire, Sabrina Jenkins, Sebastian Nelson, Victoria Nelson, Alexandra Nelson, and Sampson Lucas; as well as nine great grandchildren; her cousin, Charles Shanner; nephews, Jason and Kevin Nelson; and her good friend, Pat Dauge. Lastly, she is survived by her numerous feline sidekicks, and one dog.
