I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I cherish the memories we shared at Rockfish.

I have such wonderful memories of growing up with Tiny & Carl around and going on family vacations with them for many, many years. They were an incredibly funny couple, they always made me laugh! Tiny even helped me in elementary school with reading. With her help, I became an avid reader with her making reading fun - I’m very grateful for her guidance. Tiny & Carl helped me learn some valuable life skills that I use even to this day - your relationship with your spouse is very important, you can give each other some teasing but never be mean, try to find the fun in whatever you do no matter where you are (even on the back row in church where I sat next to her for 13 years), the importance of Happy Hour and a good cocktail on vacation, onion & chive cream cheese with corn chips, her incredible pimento cheese with Ritz crackers, keep a tidy home but don’t stress about it, love and support your friends, it helps to be positive when things get rough (after Hurricane Camille, my mom and I walked miles to see if she and Carl were ok and even though she had a good 12-18” of mud in her house, she was glad to see us and said, “It’s ok, we’re 100% washable.”). She gave good lessons like look for the good in people and be helpful, and best of all you don’t have to be kin to be a part of the family. One of my favorite Tiny stories is when she let me stay at her house the night before my  wedding. She understood I was in need of solace. Even when my mom was calling the next morning saying it was raining and when was I going to make a decision on an outdoor or indoor wedding- Tiny took that call for me, told me she’d answer for me and not to worry, “It’s not going to rain” and she was right! Sue, Lynn, grandchildren and great grandchildren were loved and supported. She showed her strength when Karl and Lynn passed when I know it broke her heart. My world was better because Tiny was a part of it. She made an impact on many and she will be missed by many.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Tiny was my 5th grade teacher and I was very fond of her.  Over the years I always kept up with her through Mary and enjoyed our conversations regarding Tiny.

Sincerest condolences for your family's loss. Mrs. Mitchell was my 5th grade teacher at Rockfish Elementary School and remained my favorite teacher throughout my years in the  Nelson County School  system. She was instrumental in getting me interested in music and reading; her daughter, Lynn ( RIP) and I were friends from 1st grade, adding to my connection to her. My connection continued with her grand daughter, Susie as she was an aide at Rockfish when my grand children were students there. I ❤️ and respected  Mrs Mitchell - she was a special person from a gentler and kinder world. I was fortunate to know this beautiful Lady.
