

James King “Jimmy” Thompson, Jr., 49, of Waynesboro unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016. He was born in Waynesboro on September 10, 1967, a son of the late James King, Sr. and surviving, Annie Marie Thompson.
Jimmy was a Wilson High School Graduate of the class of 1986. He later attended Faith Bible Institute, where he received a degree in Theology. Jimmy was employed for 10 years as a customer service representative for the DMV in Staunton and worked for Beam Brother’s trucking as a dispatcher on the weekends. He had a great passion for music and put that passion to work by working for the radio station, Country KCY 104.3, from 1989 until 2002; as well as singing at many local churches and other venues. Jimmy will be remembered for his big smile, loving and giving heart.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rhonda Brooks; children, Jeff Brooks II, Evan and wife, Amanda Brooks, Kevin Brooks, and Jinger Mathews and husband, Anthony; sisters, Sharon Estes and husband, Darrell and Audrey Coffey and husband, Mike; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastors Richard Owen, Joe Locklear, and Eric Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship Church Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Anthony Mathews, Kevin Brooks, Jeff Brooks, Derek Clark, Jonathan Owen, Jon Arendalo, Clint Snell, and Jamie Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Davis and Blake Brown.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
