Jerry Wayne Thurston

He was born March 26, 1952 in Dumfries, VA to the late Louis and Janice (Bourne) Thurston.

Jerry graduated from Gar-Field High School in 1970. He had worked for Contel Telephone, later GTE then Verizon, for over 30 years, and for Dick’s Sporting Goods for 15 years. He was an active member of Battlefield 43 Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baking, and gardening. Jerry was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Theresa Lynn Thurston and Norma Guyett; and brothers, William Eli, Michael Leroy, and Louis James Thurston.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandra (Alvey) Thurston; his son, James William Thurston; his daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Click and Erin Christian, Christa and Robert Crouch, Angela and Jeff Swails, Hazel and Brian Griffith, and Cathleen Guyett; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his brother, Thomas Thurston and wife, Barbara; his in-laws, Marjorie Barrett, Terri Green, and John, William, Joanne, Richard, Joanne, Ben, Michael, Linda, and Jay Alvey; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
