Kenneth David Argenbright

Kenneth David Argenbright, a resident of Waynesboro, died Tuesday, October 8, 2019.
He was born February 9, 1931 in Clifton Forge to Harry Milton Argenbright and Ella Larman Argenbright Lyle. He was raised by his step-father, Lynn Lyle most of his life.
His early education was in Clifton Forge. He graduated from Emory and Henry College, Emory, Virginia, receiving a B. A. degree and a Masters degree from the Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta Georgia.
He served The United Methodist Church as the founding minister of the former Wayne Hills Methodist Church in Waynesboro and then became a Minister of Christian Education at Community United Methodist Church and Arlington Forest United Methodist Church in Arlington, Virginia, Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, Polk Street United Methodist in Amarillo, Texas, San Angelo United Methodist Church in San Angelo, Texas.
Returning to Virginia, he became manager of Residental Flooring with Better Living, Inc., and the Floor Fashions of Virginia, Inc. in Charlottesville, Virginia. In retirement, he became Director of Music at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, in Charlottesville, Virginia where he served voluntarily for 23 years, at Basic United Methodist Church, Bethany Lutheran Church, both in Waynesboro.
In addition his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan; sisters, Helen and Janet.
Survivors include his son, David and wife, Dawn of Waynesboro; daughter, Kathy and her husband, Jubal Riley of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Robin Argenbright of Fort Worth Texas; half-brother, Greg Lyle and wife Cheryl of Magnolia, Texas. He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Kenneth loved life and had many passions. One of his many passions was for the Arts, especially church choir music, musical theater and Opera. He was a talented baritone and performed with Little Theater Groups in Virginia, South Carolina and Amarillo, Texas. He had singing role in “Annie”, “Oklahoma”, “Seven Last Words of Christ” and many other contatas. He is now part of the Heavenly choir, where he doesn’t need a hymnal because he can remember all the words of his favorite hymns.
Friends are invited to share in a memorial service with the family at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1500 Rio Road E, Charlottesville, with Rev. Chip Giessler officiating.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1500 Rio Road E, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA.
