

Mr. Shoemaker was born on June 5, 1934 in Statesville, N.C. and was a son of the late Joseph Van and Mary Onar (Sparks) Shoemaker. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. After his military service, Mack worked for Con-Agra for many years prior to his retirement. He was an avid NASCAR fan and even drove a race car for a number of years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on cars and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Mr. Shoemaker was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will greatly miss him.
On June 13, 1958 he married the former Patricia Ann Jones, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Mack is survived by two sons, Larry Shoemaker and wife Sherie of Staunton, Jason Shoemaker of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Rachel Pecott and husband Shawn, and Tammy LeFils and husband Fred both of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Helen McGlaghlin of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Naaman LeFils, Ryan Pecott, Victoria LeFils, Nadine Castillo, Christopher Shoemaker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 11 AM at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Berry officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 until 8 PM at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
