
She was born March 19, 1947, a daughter of the late William Newell and Mary (Houser) McCartney.
Martha was a member of Rodes United Methodist Church in Afton.
She was a former employee of Acme Visible Records in Crozet, the Waynesboro Sheriff’s Department, retired from the Office of the City Treasurers in Waynesboro, retiring in 2001 and worked for Zeh Plumbing and Heating until her second retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William “Billy” McCartney and a sister, Wilma Zeh.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar Junior “Dixie” Keyton; a son, Michael Sott Keyton (Tiffany) daughter; Wendy Fitzgerald (Clifton) sister; Mary Alice Shifflett; six grandchildren, Dylan, William, Neely “Brandon”, Cody, Lexi, Brittany “ Kenny”, Ashley “Rachael”; four great grandchildren, Sofia, Tinley, McKenna and Silas.
She also leaves a very special friend and caregiver and sister by heart, Linda Thomas, along with her fur baby, Buddy.
Following cremation a celebration of life service will be held by her family at a later date.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 209 Bills Lane, Afton.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to all the staff of Augusta Health Hospice for the care shown to Martha during her illness.
