

Born October 11, 1943 in Richmond, she was a daughter of the late Alvin William and Ruby Grace (Miller) Cashion.
In previous years, Mary was an elementary school teacher in Richmond. She was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren and also attended First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. She found great joy in spending time with her family and in crafting, especially wreath making, a hobby through which she shared her creativity and love with others. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Ray Crowder, Sr.; sister, Emily Hughes; brother, William Cashion; niece, Kim Cashion; and nephew, Conley Cashion.
Survivors include her three children, Cathy Weaver and husband, Mike of Yorktown, Va, Paige Crowder of Crozet, and Curt Crowder of Crozet; grandchildren, Ray Crowder, Khi Hylton, Riley Weaver, Nadia Crowder, and Ryan Weaver; brother-in-law, Ed Hughes of Richmond, Va; sister, Judy Godfrey and husband, Blan of Raleigh, NC; sisters-in-law, Jean Cashion of Bedford, Va and Joy Crowder of Urbanna, Va; niece, Donna Cashion; nephews, Craig Cashion and Parke Godfrey; and special cousin, Patsy Perry of Richmond, Va.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro. A formal service will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ruby Cashion Preschool of Central Baptist Church, 1500 Courthouse Road, Richmond, VA 23236.
