

R. David “Andy” Anderson passed on to his heavenly home on May 12, 2023. Andy was born in Dante, VA on November 22, 1925, the son of Harvey and Suda Anderson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Amanda, his son, Robert, and second wife, Joan. He is survived by his brother, John, his son, Donald, step-daughter, Deborah, daughter-in-law, Nancy, two grandsons, Ryan, Matthew and his wife Nicole, and their daughter Riley.
Mr. Anderson served with the 95th Infantry Division, Company L, 377rd Infantry Regiment during WWII in the European theater. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Pharmacy in 1947. He subsequently served as Chief Pharmacist at King’s Daughters’ Hospital, Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services at Ohio State University Hospital, Director of Pharmacy Services and acting administrator at Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was the first president of Virginia Society of Hospital Pharmacists, later elected president of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP). He was awarded multiple prestigious awards: ASHP Harvey Whitney Lecture Award, Outstanding Pharmacist of the Year, Hospital Pharmacist of the Year, Warren E. Weaver Service Award, and Outstanding Pharmacy Alumnus by the Medical College of Virginia Alumni Association.
Andy was an active member of the Waynesboro Mennonite Church where he served as a volunteer administrator, Council chairman, and in other capacities. He volunteered at St. Jude Hospital on St. Lucia, and Nazareth Hospital in Israel.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11AM on May 27, 2023 at the Waynesboro Mennonite Church, 1801 Monroe St., Waynesboro. Those unable to attend in person may join by Zoom,
