It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Thomas Bustard, III of Waynesboro on March 30th at the young age of 43 following a courageous battle with MDS-AML. Born on January 2, 1981, he was the son to the late Raymond Bustard Jr & Mary Leitch in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
Ray moved to Waynesboro in 1994 and graduated from Waynesboro High School in 2000. He was most recently employed for 19 years at NIBCO until he fell ill in 2022. Ray also dedicated time towards several hobbies through which he met many great friends that he shared them with, including collecting football cards, hot wheels, gaming, and of course his love of cars (specifically Hondas). He was an avid fan of the New York Giants, New Jersey Devils, and Virginia Tech Hokies. He loved the beach and cruising on the Blue Ridge Parkway with friends or family. Ray was also a self-proclaimed foodie, the ultimate judge of the best pizza and sandwiches. Friends describe him as competitive, wise, loving, supportive, and generous. Ray was the best father and husband; his family was everything to him. He will be missed immensely by those who love him.
Ray is survived by his wife, Bobbi Jo, and young children Oliver and Caroline. Also surviving includes his mother, Mary Bustard, of Waynesboro; sister Jeanie Leitch of Waynesboro, sister Amanda Bustard of Jersey City, NJ, and brother Michael (Caitlin) of Cedar Knolls, NJ with nephews Robbie and Michael; sister-in-law Crystal Northrup with nephew, David, and niece, Lindsey of Sayre, PA; father and mother-in-law Patrick & Brenda Dawson of Staunton, VA; mother-in-law Debra Barber of Waverly, NY; and many loved cousins, aunts, uncles, and very special friends.
A memorial service with cruise-in to follow will be held on April 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Destiny Family Center located at 36 Rose Ave in Stuarts Draft, VA. Updates and details can be found on Facebook.
In his memory, please consider registering to become a stem cell donor through Be The Match at BeTheMatch.org or donating to the MDS Foundation to support the continued research of safe cures for this awful disease.
