

Robert (Bob) Leonard Evers, 81, loving husband of Nancy Wood Evers, passed away on February 4, 2022 at the Shenandoah Hospice House. Bob was born in Augusta County, Virginia to the late Ivan William and Dorothy Snyder Evers.
Bob graduated from Waynesboro High School, Class of 1959. He was a proud Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Ranger CVA 61 Aircraft carrier for 3 ½ years. His Navy career spanned a time of 4 years active service and 11 years in the Navy Reserve, honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer. He was the co-founder and owner of E&E Machine Shop in Waynesboro, Virginia for 38 years. He was a member of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, serving as chairman of the Society for one year. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed every day of farming on the beautiful Meadowbrook Farm. He was a lifetime member of the NRA. He served on The Board of Augusta County Service Authority for 7 years.
Bob had been faithful member of Hermitage Presbyterian Church serving on many committees and as an Elder. He also loved his former Church families at Verona United Methodist Church and Saint James Lutheran Church.
After retirement, Bob was able to spend more time gardening and woodworking. His canned vegetables from his garden were enjoyed by family and friends. He crafted many beautiful furniture pieces for his home. Bob was always ready to help friends and neighbors in need. He never met a stranger and enjoyed sharing conversations with friends both new and old. Friends and family will always remember his welcoming smile, fun sense of humor and his hearty laugh.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Brenda Evers and brother-in-law, G. Bernie Barnhart. Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Kathryn Pierce and husband Chris of Roanoke; son, Richard Evers of Crimora; daughter, Cindy Senger and husband, Randy of Mt. Sidney, VA. He leaves his grandchildren with wonderful memories of Granddaddy. They are Courtney Pierce, Ian Pierce, Corabeth Pierce, Ashlyn Senger, Allyson Senger and Jenna Senger. Also surviving are brothers, William (Bill) and wife, Lynda of Georgia, Edwin of Washington, and Alan and wife, Janet of Waynesboro, VA; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Barnhart of Waynesboro; and sister-in-law Ethel Fisher and husband, Harry of Harrisonburg.
There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hermitage Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 46 Hildebrand Church Road, Waynesboro. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro at a later date.
