Robert Blair Fry

Born on September 4, 1949 in Churchville, son of Mervin W. and Mary Ann Rohrer Fry.

On May 21, 1993, he married the love of his life, Pauline McDaniel Purvis. They shared a blessed union of 21 years.

Mr. Fry was a member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church. He served four years in the Air Force, after which, he worked for Dupont and Invista for 38 years. Mr. Fry enjoyed gardening, taking long rides with Miss Ellie Mae, and making the best mac and cheese and fried oysters around. However, being “Grand Pap” brought him the greatest joy of his life.

Survivors include his children, Cara Purvis Moore and husband, Jeff of Waynesboro and Shea Purvis of Fishersville; grandchildren, Carter Moore and fiancée, Marina, Mattie Johnson and husband, Nathan, Jared Moore and Brady Louk; great granddaughter, Graycen Johnson; sister, Anita Wilcher and husband, Melvin of Churchville; brother-in-law, Taze McDaniel and wife, Nancy of Waynesboro; sister-in-law, Mary Anna Benson of Ashland; nephews, Jeremy and Casey Wilcher; cousins, Larry and Wanda Lamb; special friends, Brian Bruce, the Huffers, the Chittums and the Bibys; and special canine companion, Ellie Mae.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Lester Kennedy and Pastor Duane Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Shenandoah House for the compassionate care they provided Bob.
