Roy McDonald Napier

Roy McDonald Napier, 86, of Waynesboro passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, October 11, 2021. He was born in Nellysford on July 3, 1935, a son of the late Sir Cashus and Lillie (Puckett) Napier. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, retired from E.I. Dupont in 1997 after 32 years years of service, was a member of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church where he was active in the United Methodist Men, the church choir and the Joy Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Napier Reed and a brother, Massie Lee Napier. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Claytor) Napier; daughters, Tina (Napier) Dorsey and husband, Tim, Ginger (Napier) Elliott and husband, Jimmy; son, Kevin Scott Napier; grandchildren, Zachary and Rachel Eubank, Chasity, Lindsay and Whitney Elliott; brothers, Frank Napier and wife, Pat, Norman Napier and wife, Marie of Nellysford; sister-in-law, Charisse Hughes and husband, Rick of Waynesboro, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church, 688 Highland Ave., Waynesboro with the Rev. Janet Knott officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the church. The family wishes to express a big thank you to the Augusta Health Hospice Staff, especially Lauren Gochenour for her compassionate care.
