Ruth Amelia (Nichols) Talbott, 78, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018. She was born in Augusta County on January 11, 1940, a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Ollie Belle (Hall) Nichols.
Ruth was a member and former secretary of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand and great grandmother. Ruth greatly enjoyed reading, bird watching, and was an avid owl collector. She will be remembered for her modest, humble, and compassionate nature.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles Lawrence “Larry” Talbott, Jr.; granddaughter, Ruth Amelia Bledsoe, and her sisters, Charlotte Nichols and Maxine Bennett.
Survivors include her children, Charles L. Talbott, III and wife, Kiyomi of Virginia Beach, Katharine Bledsoe of Stuarts Draft and William R. Talbott and wife, Katie of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Christy Talbott, Samantha Bledsoe, Joe Bledsoe, Will Talbott, Charlie Talbott and Amelia Talbott; great -granddaughter, Kira; siblings, Florence Ailer and husband, Richard , Hoyle Nichols and wife, Betty, and Minnie Truslow and husband, Lewis; as well as numerous extended family and friends with the church and at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab Center.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Drive, Fishersville, with Dr. Rev. Rosalind Banbury officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to her church and/or the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad, 10 Manor Rd, Stuarts Draft, VA 24477.
