Tamara "Tammy" Faye Wilkins

Tamara “Tammy” Faye Wilkins, 61, of Fishersville passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at her residence. Born December 23, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence David and Mary Alma (Monroe) Wilkins. She attended Linden Heights Baptist Church in Staunton. Tammy retired from the University of Virginia where she worked for thirty plus years. She served as the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (EVP/COO) for the majority of her career. When the EVP/COO retired, she spent her last year working for the Dean in the School of Architecture. Her heart was in serving others. She treated everyone with equal respect, deference, and humor, no matter who they were. She was good natured and dedicated, willing to go above and beyond because it was all part of taking care of others which is what Tammy did best. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Michael Wilkins and wife, Shirley, Clarence Wilkins and wife Shirley; nephew David F. Wilkins; and niece, Julie Suggs. Survivors include a nephew, Tony Wilkins; niece, Penny Sager; great nephews, Andrew Wilkins, David Wilkins, Austin Suggs; and great nieces, Dana Cash and Karlye Sager. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastors John Hamric and Luke Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be J. D. Carroll, Dustin Henderson, Tim Morris, Tony Wilkins, Tommy Weade, Buck Brown and Parker Staples. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends attending the service.
