
Thomas Baxter Kennedy Thomas Baxter Kennedy, 76, of Waynesboro, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013, at his residence. Mr. Kennedy was born on November 28, 1936, in Augusta County, and was the son of the late Roger Baxter and Florence Kathlene (Harman) Kennedy. After attending Waynesboro High School, Tommy served in the United States Marine Corp from 1954 until 1962. Following his military service, he worked as a baker for Sunbeam Breads in Waynesboro, and later as a maintenance man for Windsor Apartments. He also worked as a painting contractor. Tommy loved hunting and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke and was an avid NASCAR fan. Mr. Kennedy was quick to pull a practical joke. He attended Waynesboro Free Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, on January 24, 2012. Mr Kennedy is survived by two sons, Anthony Kennedy and his two children, Chad and Stacy; and James Nichols and wife, Paula, and their son, Ryan; two daughters, Nina Wood and her three children, Neil, Christopher, Ashley; Clarissa Garrett and husband, Tory, and their four sons, Ivan, Thomas, Kenneth, and Samuel; two sisters, Janet Campbell of Waynesboro, and Delores Roberts of Lyndhurst; 18 great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Rebecca Lowery; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends who will greatly miss him. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Waynesboro Free Methodist Church with the Reverend Chris Pulice officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, VA 22939.
