Garry Scott Morris, 74, passed away April 23, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and traditions. Born on November 20, 1951, he lived a full life centered around family, friendship, and the simple joys that meant the most to him. Garry was a proud American and a Vietnam Veteran.
Garry was the devoted husband of the late Patricia “Patti” Sue Morris and a father to his two sons, Aaron (Samantha) and Sean (Trista). He was a proud Pappy to his grandchildren, Aubrey and Ryker.
He was the youngest of eight: brothers Chauncey, Vaughn, Harry, Murray, and Paul, and sisters Faye and Jeanette. He was predeceased by his parents, Jennie Nahodil and Albert Morris.
Garry enjoyed gatherings with his extended family, the Pattersons and Zollars. He liked going out to lunch or coffee weekly with “the old people,” as he jokingly called them. He retired from SCI-Greene as a Carpentry Trades Instructor, where he worked for many years, following a career as a coal miner.
An avid racing fan and lifelong car enthusiast, Garry appreciated anything with wheels and a good engine. He also loved the thrill of the hunt at auctions. Garry liked corny sci-fi movies; the worse they were, the more he liked them.
Garry will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, sense of humor, and sarcasm. He was the definition of a gentle giant. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the people who loved him.
A celebration of Garry’s life will be held at a later date, where family and all friends are invited to gather—just the way he would have wanted.
