

Robert "Bob" Smith, a resident of Center Township, PA, for 75 years of his life before moving to Waynesburg, PA, in 2009, passed away at age 92 at the Evergreen Personal Care Home on April 4, 2026, with family by his side.
He was born January 12, 1934, in Center Township; he was the son of the late John Lawrence and Kathleen Margaret (Stewart) Smith. From the age of 12, he lived with his grandmother, Mattie Morris Smith, to help on the family farm.
Bob graduated from Center Township High School (West Greene) and was a member of the Center Township FFA Chapter.
He was a member and trustee of the Holbrook Christian Church.
After moving to Waynesburg, he attended the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church and the First Christian Church in Waynesburg.
Bob worked on the pipeline and in 1963, started with PennDOT as a Heavy Equipment Operator 4. He was tasked with snow removal on I-79 from Waynesburg to the WV state line during the winter months. He ran the super-goose paving machine during the summer paving roads in Greene County. Bob was also proficient in running all other equipment for PennDOT.
After retiring in July 1998, Bob began his second career and first love: farming. He raised sheep and black angus cattle on his farm outside of Waynesburg.
Bob loved to hunt and fish in his spare time. He spent time reading the bible, doing word searches, and enjoyed watching John Wayne western movies. He spent most springs and summers maintaining multiple gardens that produced food for the family year-round.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Cummins, with whom he had been married for 13.5 years. They had two children, Robert Douglas (Jody) Smith and Jeffrey G. (Linda) Smith.
Bob remarried in 1969 and was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Rae Stiles, with whom he had been married for 39 years. They had three children, Troy L. (Jenny) Smith, Cheryl A. Smith, and Ross M. (Cara) Smith.
Bob has twelve grandchildren,
Rachel A. (Chad)Kuhn, Lowell Eric (Crystal) Smith, Michael D. (Santana) Smith, Matthew B. (Jaime) Smith. He was preceded in death by Natalie Jo Smith.
Katelyn (Matthew) Turner and Samantha (Morgen) Hess.
Bobbi Rae Smith and Caylee Anne Smith,
Alexzander Smith, Archer Smith, and Axzel Smith.
He also has thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Managing Director with additional visitation being held on Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the funeral service starting at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rick Croyle officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville, PA 15359
