William E. Tanner, age 75, of Prosperity, Pennsylvania passed away at 2:40 AM, Friday, September 13, 2024 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, PA. He was born September 1, 1949, in Waynesburg, PA, a son of the late Charles Tanner and Mary Jane Miller Tanner. William was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4793 and the James Farrell American Legion Post #330, both of Waynesburg. He was a retired Pipefitter from Local #211 of Houston, Texas. William was a member of the NRA. He loved watching football, westerns and NASCAR. William was a veteran, having served as a medic in the US Army during his tour in Vietnam. His Wife: Kathryn Baker Tanner, whom he married on November 1, 1981 died March 22, 2023. Surviving are a Daughter: Mary Ellen (Thomas) Dulaney of Waynesburg, PA, 2 Sons: Tyler (Bethany) Tanner of Waynesburg, PA and Cody Tanner of Ruff Creek, PA and another Daughter: Karlissa Hoover of West Hickory, PA, 7 Grandchildren: Willie Smith, Jackson Dulaney, Kathryn Dulaney, Logan Tanner, Lucas Tanner, Levi Tanner and Harper Tanner, 3 Great-Grandchildren: Madelyn Smith, Charleigh Smith and Timothy Smith and 1 Sister: Linda Taylor of Oak Forest, PA. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Director with Service on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will be Private at the National Cemetery of The Alleghenies.
