Betty was born in Haywood County and resided there for 88 years. She enjoyed time spent outdoors, whether camping, golfing, or on Lake Chatuge where she waterskied until 71 years young. When not outside, she could be found watching golf, reading, or simply enjoying a crossword puzzle. And her love for dancing often delighted those around her.
Her infectious, some might say, feisty, personality was ever evident as she truly never met a stranger. For her last year and a half she resided in Davidson where that personality expanded her ever-increasing circle of friends at The Pines.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who devoted her life to raising her children and providing a caring home. Just three days prior to her passing she was blessed to hold her latest great-grandson in her arms.
Betty was preceded by her husband, Hugh Constance, Sr., one brother, two sisters, and a grandson.
She leaves behind, sons Hugh Constance, Jr. (Martha) & Richard Constance (Carol), daughters Lou Hipps (Jeff Soto) & Melody Wood (Charles), four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Her love for God was a beacon for all. Always quick to lend a hand, or to add those in need to her prayer list, her kind and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 1 to 3 PM at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow immediately at Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Michael Horton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her church building fund. Encouraging Word Baptist Church, PO Box 797, Waynesville, NC 28786.
