

Waynesville-Don Franklin Wallace, 85, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at The Elizabeth House. Don was born in Dell, Arkansas on November 22, 1934, to the late William E. and Sally Henrietta Hardin Wallace. Don was a private pilot in his younger days flying planes such as Cessnas and Piper Cubs. He was also into motorsports especially stock car racing and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. In his seventies, Don even participated in the Kyle Petty Charity Ride seven times, which travels across the United States raising money for various charities. Don enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing and feeding and watching the wildlife around his house.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Dunlap Wallace, who passed away in 2002.
Don is survived by his daughter, Sally E. Wallace (Michelle Sanford); a son, Don Alan “Al” Wallace; and brothers, Edwin Wallace (Patte) and Gene Wallace (Susan).
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 1, in the chapel of First Baptist Church in Waynesville with the Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
