Waynesville-Eric Wayne Campbell, 56, died on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Eric’s life is remembered by many around him- the members of his churches, his friends, and family. Our family was reminded of the deeds accomplished by Eric through his willingness to give of his musical talents throughout the community churches, personified through weddings, cantatas, worship and death. We want Eric most to be remembered as one who persevered. His challenges were numerous and he overcame multiple obstacles. Trauma in his late teens and early twenties led to Eric being unable to finish college. After ten years of overcoming his medical battles, he went back to his music and college professors came to his bedside to help him finish his college degree, which he was so proud. Our precious mother Rosa cared for Eric for many years and then he cared for her in like. We asked one of Eric’s friends of eighteen years, why he befriended our brother and he simply stated, because he was ‘kind and honest’. The children of St Joseph’s School with their notes of heartfelt words celebrated his life. One letter in particular left at Eric’s doorstep written, by a young lady, brought tears of joy to our eyes. Eric died peacefully. Our wish is for those who knew and loved him to join in fellowship in the privacy of their homes or in fellowship with community members. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Academy at 175 Rich Cove Rd, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
