Frances Cagle Scruggs

Frances Cagle Scruggs, age 99, of Clyde, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024. Frances was born in Haywood County on May 13, 1924, to the late Glen and Lou Grasty Cagle. When she was younger Frances enjoyed gardening and working in her flower garden and then as she aged she enjoyed reading and working puzzles. Most of all, Frances loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church since she was 17 years old.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Glen Scruggs; a daughter, Sharon Diane; brothers, Jack, Amos, Lowey and Gilmer; sisters, Helen, Wilma and Cary; and twin great-great-grandsons.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Glenda Scruggs Ferguson (Darwin) with whom she has made her home for six years; son, Chipper Scruggs (Jackie); nine grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 3, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Terry Roland and the Reverend David Scruggs officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Grandsons, nephews and a friend will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
