

Waynesville-Harry Lee Wright, 87, passed away at home on Friday, January 12, 2018. Harry was born in Haywood County on September 10, 1930, to the late Clifford Sr. and Mabel Sherrill Wright. Harry was a man of few words, but always had a quick wit. He served his country honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Harry retired from Enka/BASF after 40 years of faithful service and was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne Wright, Clifford Wright, Jr.; and his sisters Virginia Galloway, Ruth Porter, and Juanita Medford.
Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue Howell Wright; sons Sherrill Wright (Monnie) of Rome, GA and Charles Wright (Lynn) of Waynesville; daughters, Angie Gustafson (Gary) of North Canton, OH and Elizabeth Hoyle (Jayson) of Franklin, NC; grandchildren, Lacey Stegall (Zack), Jacob Wright, Cliff Wright (Chelsea), Matthew Wright (Lauren), Grant and Heath Gustafson, Samantha, Melanie and Cameron Hoyle; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emery Stegall.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 16, at Dellwood Baptist Church with the Reverend Barry Willett officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Maple Grove UMC Cemetery. Grandsons and Zack Stegall will serve as pallbearers. Davis Galloway, Jr., Phil James, Ed Vail, Wade Caldwell, Bob Messer, and Bill Rogers will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
