Austin, TX-James “JJ” Carlton Jones went to be with our Lord on Friday, October 19, in Asheville, N.C. Jim enjoyed life to its fullest, was an avid golfer, loved music, scuba diving, and riding his Harley to Daytona for annual motorcycle rallies.
JJ also loved to travel and was known by both family and friends to have a life pleasing nomad spirit leading him to travel to towns and cities across our great nation researching history and heritage.
JJ was a hardworking enthusiastic, successful businessman in a variety of professions such as carpentry and homebuilding, buying and selling used cars and was most passionate about his past 12 year business, partnering with his best friend Nick Porter scuba diving helping others recover lost valuables in and around the Austin, Texas rivers.
Jim was born in Hendersonville, NC on October 14, 1958. He is survived by his children, Brittney, Hannah and Caleb of Waynesville, N.C.; his brothers Tim and Jenny Jones, Gary M and Mary C Jones; and ten nephews and nieces.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Robert Jones (born in Asheville); his mother, Betty M. Jones; and brother, Casey P. Jones of Kerrville, TX.
At the time of his passing he was working on setting up a traveling ministry to reach those in need of prayer, goodwill and hope.
Jim will be inurned with his father and mother in Texas at a later date.
Jim (JJ) will be missed by family and friends and will be remembered as a warm, kind and generous soul.
