James William Miller 1928 – 2015 James William Miller, 86, of Waynesville, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Silverbluff Nursing Home. He was born in Haywood County on February 1, 1929 to the late Raymond and Etta Mae Miller. He was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy and veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Gary Dean Miller, brother, Samuel Earl Miller, and sister, Betty June Buckner. He is survived by his wife, Edith “Skeeter” Miller; brothers, David Weaver Miller and his wife Patsy of Jacksonville, FL and Bob Ray Miller and his wife Wanda of Waynesville, NC; sister in law Myrtle Hefner; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 10 to 11 AM at Garrett Funeral Home. Private services will be held at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
