Candler-Lois Arrington Almond, 81 died on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Mission Hospital-Memorial Campus. Lois was born in Haywood County on November 28, 1936, to the late George Howard and Thelma Kelley Smith Arrington. She enjoyed hiking, traveling, volunteering with MAHEC, and most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alethea Almond; sister, Juanita Skinner; brothers, Joel and Edward Arrington; and an infant brother Bobby Gene Arrington.
Lois is survived by her sons, Chris Almond (Renee), Steven Almond (Deborah), and Michael Almond; her daughter, Debra Pate (John); sisters, Betty Plemmons, Freida Haney, and Sandy Shelton; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Lois’ life will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Derrick McCarson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
