Margaret Ann Mickels Nickerson

Sylva-Margaret Ann Nickerson, 99, died on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Blue Ridge on the Mountain. Margaret was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on May 30, 1916, to the late Alfred and Ivy Coffron Mickels. Margaret was known by her laugh and loved playing gin rummy. She was the “Rock” of her family whom she loved dearly. Margaret retired from Kmart Corporation after many years of faithful service. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Nickerson. Margaret is survived by three sons, Paul “Butch” Nickerson and his wife, Deborah of Franklin, North Carolina, Steele “Danny” Nickerson and his wife, Nellie of Hollywood, Florida, and William “Billy” Nickerson of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kristi Nickerson, Kathi Nickerson, Kerri Nickerson, Jeffrey Nickerson, Amie Nickerson, Emilie Nickerson, and Kim Osmani; and seven great-grandchildren. A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held from 1:30-3:30 PM on May 28, at Blue Ridge on the Mountain in Sylva, NC. She will be inurned in Woodlawn Cemetery in Franklin, North Carolina.
