Robert Grady Nelon

Robert Grady “Bob” Nelon, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 1, 2025. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Eldred and Ethel Davis Nelon. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Jenny Franklin, Audrey Searcy, Irene Harwood, and Ann Reagan. He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church of Waynesville.

Bob, as most knew him, was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and gardening. He served his country honorably in the US Navy from 1957 -1961 where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy reserves from 1961-1963.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Webb Nelon, and children, Mike Nelon (Kim) of Alaska, Jason Nelon (Michelle) of Montana, Lisa McClure (Rick) of Waynesville and Angie Willett (Scott) of Waynesville; 9 grandchildren; Amy Seaford (Jonathan) of Canton, Brandon Nelon of Florida, Derrick (Alysia) Nelon of Alaska; Heather Stockton (Kaleb) of Waynesville, Holly Willett of Waynesville, Jared Willett (Danielle) of Waynesville, Lauren Greene (Cody) of Waynesville, Jacob McClure of Waynesville, Sophie Nelon of Montana and 7 great-grandchildren; Jaden Seaford, Gavin Nelon, Addelyn Stockton, Ben Willett, Anniston Willett, Caden Greene, and Madelyn Greene.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, June 5, at the family residence, 113 Seibert Road, Waynesville with the Reverend Barry Willett officiating. A private burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery with the Reverend Jay Jones. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am at the family residence.
