Waynesville-Roger Allen Lee Stamey, 64 passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at his residence after an extended illness. Roger was born in Haywood County on March 31, 1956, to the Ernest Stamey and the late Anna Lee Webb Stamey. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with his brother, Ernie. Roger was an artist, working in pottery, painting, wood carving and glass blowing. He also loved camping and traveling to the coast. Roger will be remembered as a music lover and a prankster.
In addition to his mother, Roger was preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles; and his special dogs, Layla and Bailey.
In addition to his father, Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years, Teresa Williams Stamey; son, Josh Walker and fiancé Michelle; daughter, Jill Brouwer; brother, Ernie Stamey; sisters Verba Stamey and Sandra Hensley (Mike); six grandchildren; and his dogs, Ivan and Izzie.
A memorial service celebrating Roger’s life will be held at a later date. The service information will be published in The Mountaineer.
