Ruby Lea Bumgarner

Ruby Sherrill Bumgarner, age 86, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Ruby was born in Haywood County on October 7, 1937, to the late Roy Baxter and Daisy Myers Sherrill. Ruby enjoyed crafting, gardening, being outdoors, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Bumgarner; two great-grandsons, Kyler Presnell and Robert Reeves; and brothers Danny and Wayne Sherrill.

Ruby is survived by her children, Randy Bumgarner, John Bumgarner, Tammy Inman (Harold) and Cynthia Scruggs (Steve); grandchildren, Brandon, Lucy, Heather, Jonathan, Kassie and Steven; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn Duncan, Brenda Crow, Patsy Pressley and Peggy Sherrill; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to her still daughter-in-law, Jayne and her family and to Angel for adopting out Ruby's dogs.

At Ruby's request, there will be a private graveside service.

The family would like to offer a word of thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on the fifth floor of Haywood Regional Medical Center, Haywood County Rescue Squad, and Four Seasons Hospice for their compassionate care of Ruby.
