

Waynesville-Rufus “Mack” McClain Green, 95, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Pigeon Valley Assisted Living. Mack was born in Haywood County on January 21, 1922, to the late Lawrence and Olive Jane Boone Green. Mack was truly devoted to his family. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and just being outdoors. Mack was a combat veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific Theatre. Mack retired from Dayco after many years of faithful service. In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by his brothers, Emmett and Tommy Green; his sisters, Olive Jane Green, Merrill Ogburn, Mary Jo Springer, and Ruth Atkins. Mack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Crane Green; his sons, Ivan Green and his wife, Janet and Shane Green; a daughter, Cindy Way and her husband, Chuck; a brother, Johnny Green; a sister, Patricia Green; and a granddaughter, Abigail Green.
