William "Bill" Norris

It is with heavy hearts that the family of William “Bill” L. Norris of Waynesville announces his passing on Sunday, August 30, 2015, after a brief illness. Bill was born May 22, 1940. Bill is survived by; Barbara, wife; Meredith, daughter, and her husband Valerio Vuotto; William, son; and many cousins including the Smathers, Norris, Liner, Walker, and Burgin families. A native of Waynesville, Bill was the only child of Lucy and Bill Norris and attended Waynesville Township High. From an early age, Bill followed in his contractor father’s footsteps and owned and operated Norris Concrete then Norris Corporation and W. C. Mini Storage until his death. Bill loved all aspects of construction and architecture; deep sea, arctic, and fly-fishing; trains; jazz music; chess; tasty snacks and a perfect three-olive martini. A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations. A visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, September 2, at the funeral home. Friends, family, and community members are invited. Bill’s family would like to express special thanks to new and old supporting friends including his work family of Susie, Mark, and Pete; the excellent assistance of Care Angels; the 5th Floor Hospital staff; and the Haywood County Hospice staff. Bill had deep appreciation for the customers and tenants of his businesses and would like to express sincere thanks for their long-time loyalty.
