George I will  miss you. I was talking with a couple of guys who worked for you as I did. Nino,mark,Victor. You told it like it was. I wish there were more gyms like yours. I will see you soon my friend and listen to you say boz if I didn't tie a board around your feet you would float down the drain when you took a shower you pencil neck geek buggy whip arms.

This  tribute  is  late  in  coming--but  definitely warranted--I  knew  1st of  George  Turner from  reading Iron Man/Muscle Builder and  other  bodybuilding magazines --he  wrote  articles--had  his  gyms--put  on  powerlifting  competitions  and  the  like--a  worthy  contributor--I am  a collector  of  physical  culture items--I  love  to  train  and  I  have  owned and  operated  a  gym--I  corresponded  with  George  and  learned  much  on  the  proper  way  to  weight  train  for  life. He  preached  conditioning to  get  in  shape  for  training--train  whole  body  3  days  a  week --before  you  start  to  do  splits  and  specialize  !!  Common  sense  training  or  Real  Bodybuilding  as  he  would  say . His  gyms  were  some  of  the  best  from  what  I  have  seen  and  heard  from  people  that  trained  there--he  was  old  school such  as  Bill  Pearl--Leo  Stern --Ed  Yarick --all  who  like  George trained  many  others  to  succeed  --Ken  Waller--Samir  Bannout--Tony Pearson--Jeff  King--all  trained  in  Georges Gyms--I  loved  his  cassette tape  series  on  training--I  still  use  them  today--Rest  in  Peace  George  --you  were  a  passionate  believer and  contributor  in  Physical  Culture  !!

George Turner started me on the regimen of working out at least three days a week. That was in 1978 at his Clayton, Missouri club. Today I am 62, living and working in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and I am still working out..still following George's advice for effective lifting. My condolences to Georges family.

I am saddened to hear of George's passing and send my prayers to family members. George was a significant person in my life for some 13-years from 1975-1988 as a friend, and former powerlifter representing Turner's Gym in many competitions. George devoted his time, knowledge, support and wisdom to many young men to become champions with his unique blend of humor and perspectives in the sport and in life. We are all better people for having spent time with George. I only wish I could relive many of those moments again with George and my many close friends at the gym. Often misunderstood, George was a complex man and if not for his efforts and contributions in life many of us close to George would not have been able to achieve our true potential. We will all miss you George and God bless you.

There truly was no one else like George Turner. Always a head of his times, George's gyms were legendary. It was in his tesson ferry where I first trained and then later on in his west county location. George could be absolutely hilarious and often said the most outrageous things. One thing for certain - he was never boring. Rest in peace Georgie, you will be missed.

Wow, were do you start when talking about George Turner? It took me years to figure out behind all that sarcasim, in your face, tell it like it is kind  of man he was. He really cared and wanted and did help a lot of people.The old school, hard knox school of teaching. Then under all that toughness, a huge heart of gold..He had a way about him, but ask all the 200 plus pros he trained.He knew what he was doing. Years ahead of his time. George, you will be missed , but never fogotten. R.I.P. my friend.

One of the most interesting people I've ever met.  The stories I heard from you and your past gym members are legendary.  May you have a safe journey and may God Bless you and Keep you.  You were one of a kind.  RIP George.

First "real" gym I ever joined! George was up front, told your flaws and then how to fix em in a way only George could.. Used to love when he saw some guy with 9 inch arms doing concentration curls or cables curls...  "Fool, trying to put a peak on a bone."

A man like no other. So incredibly knowledgeable in helping create the best fit physiques possible. Thank you for the most entertaining memories from managing your Ultimate Gym. See you again one day my friend and mentor. R.I.P. George.
