Harry James Hardy, age 86, of Welsh, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with his daughter by his side, hand in hand, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Harry was born May 24, 1935 to Michel and Edna Bourgeois Hardy.
Harry was known for being a very stoic man who selflessly dedicated himself to his family. A man of great honor who believed in keeping your word and that a hand shake sealed every deal. Harry was a man of few words and when he spoke it was with great wisdom and knowledge. He enjoyed sharing his stories of his days as a mine sweeper with the United States Navy in which he served for four years in Japan. Harry was a Mail Carrier for the United States Post Office and retired after 36 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed working with his hands and helping people in the community which pulled him back to work until the age of 85. After his last retirement celebration a flag pole was placed in his honor at Bayou Villa in Welsh, Louisiana. He stood victorious in many battles during his life, as any true soldier would. Harry will be missed by all of his loving family and friends that he held so close to his heart. His legacy of love, compassion and empathy for others will be carried on by his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 57 years Ethel "Rita" Bourque Hardy; sister, Levelle Hardy; brothers, Percy and Robert Hardy.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are his daughter " Pumpkin/My Angie" Angela Marie Hardy Carrington-Cormier; his beloved grandson, "Little Man" Mason Lee-Joseph Carrington; son-in-law, "Son" Ashley Bruce Cormier.
Those honored to serve as his pallbearers are; Ashley Cormier, Herman Benoit, Christopher Perry, Perry Johannson, Dwight Degeyter, Ray Lynn Hopkins, Jack Witherwax and Benji McDaniel.
Visitation for Mr. Harry will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Hixson Funeral home in Welsh from the hours of 12pm till 8pm. A Rosary will be prayed on Monday at 6pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home Tuesday, September 21 from 8am until leaving for the 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Burial will follow, with Military Honors, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh, Louisiana.
