Henry "Sonny" (Pop) Calloway, of Welsh, Louisiana went to his Heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the young age of 91. Sonny was born August 20, 1929 in San Margarita, Texas.
Sonny very proudly and honorably served his country during the Korean War as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He was the definition of a true man's man, a hard working man and never retired. Pop's favorite hobby was working in his vegetable garden, planting any vegetable his grandkids requested. He always had a cold beer or hot coffee for anyone that would visit. Pop's wife was the center of his world, and his family always came first. He is already deeply missed by many and he leaves a large legacy behind.
Sonny leaves behind his adoring wife of 64 years, Peggy Louviere Calloway; daughters, Belinda Camel and husband Maurice, Jeanne Soileau and husband Tony; sons, Tim Calloway and wife Melissa, and Quentin Calloway and wife Debbie; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; as well as countless "adopted" children and grandchildren.
He is reunited in heaven with his son, Darrel "Sect" Calloway; great-granddaughter, Catherine Claire Calloway; brothers and sisters; and his parents, Edward and Lucy Calloway.
Pop will be carried to his place of rest by his 8 loving grandsons.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Hixson Funeral Home, Welsh, on Thursday, March 18, 2021 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Hixson Funeral Home, Welsh, from 8:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. held at Our Lady of Seven Dolors.
