James was one of three children born to Jimmie and Judy Johnston on July 21, 1973. He grew up in the Welsh and Pine Island area and graduated from Welsh High School.
From a young age, he was skilled when it came to diagnosing and repairing any two-stroke engine motor that came his way. One glance and/or a failed turn over is all it took, pinpointing the root cause and fixing it in a jiffy.
Although disabled, he'd never shy away from a hard days work, a trait instilled in him by his parents. He was always busy, either working on lawn motor and weed eater engines, doing various odd & end jobs, or volunteering at his church, Waters Edge. No matter how his day was going, you would be greeted with a smile and a friendly gesture.
His family and having a relationship with God were equally important to him, his bible always close and his family only a phone call away. He often enjoyed cooking, visiting and eating with his family, related or not. Good conversation was always happing when he would prepare his "Lagniappe" inspired meals, "a little of this and a little of that" always resulting in a delicious meal. He could never pass up having a good fish fry because before the fry meant he could spend an entire day casting the reel to provide for the meal.
If he wasn't with family, you could find him chatting away with people on Facebook, friends he often called family.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are; one brother Jeffery Vincent and Partner Sandy Wilson, a sister, Amanda Johnston and partner Richard Nenigar; his nieces and nephews; Baileigh Brooke Edwards-Vincent-Inman, Ira James Marcantel, Roberta Nicole Marcantel, and Emily Marie Johnston.
Cremation has been entrusted to Hixson Funeral Home, with a memorial service at a later date.
