Laura was one of five children born to Alvin J. and Laura Martin Matthews Sr. on September 18, 1942. She will best be remembered by the devotion given to her family and faith, a devotion she instilled in her children and all those around her and she was a member of Our Lady Seven Dolors Catholic Church.
She was a wonderful and doting mother to her five children; Debbie, Susie, Windie, Timmy and Tommy. Every day that anyone crossed her doorstep was a cause for celebration, whether it brought good conversation or good food, but never one without the other, preferably cooked by someone else. During the visits, you'd find her in her recliner, coffee in one hand and the other pointing that finger.
Her love of family extended to anyone she met; she collected family as quickly as "her new favorite" recliner and cookware. Many would say, she wasn't just nice, she was awesome and amazing, full of wisdom and loved her family, helping anyone in need, she was the best.
If you knew her, you'd know right now she would be telling you "It'll be what it'll be" and "It is what it is".
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, her twin sons; Timmy J. and Tommy C. Compton, a sister; Mary Lou Matthews, and brothers; Alvin "AJ" Matthews Jr., John "Boo" D Matthews.
Those left to enjoy her cookware and recliners are, her children; Debra "Debbie" (Michael "Redneck") Knighton, Kathy "Susie" (Vern A) Lobdell, Windolyn "Windie" J (Nilda) Martinez, a sister; Ruth A (Spencer) Boudreaux, her grandchildren; Melissa D "Pokie" (Jim) Rudolph, Timothy "Boomer" Young, great grandchildren; Evan and Landon, twenty-five nieces and nephews, her many Godchildren and "Her Guys".
