Marlene was raised in Welsh, Louisiana by her two German parents, Joseph and Josephine Naebers. She met her best friend’s brother, Alvin Daigle, after he returned from the Korean War. They were married January 19, 1957 and raised five kids together.
Marlene was always on the go. She loved going to Las Vegas, the beach, and looked forward to her weekly casino trips. Her favorite trip was one with four friends to the Louisiana Hayride in 1954 where she saw Elvis Presley. Her life revolved around friends, family, and card games, hosting a weekly Bourre game with her friends for many years. She loved her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was the matriarch of the family, going all out to host every holiday at her home with every inch of the house decorated. Along with hosting, she was known for her amazing home cooked meals. She was a lover of food, especially seafood. She even coined the phrase “I never met a shrimp I didn’t like” and always left a little evidence on her clothes proving that the food must have been delicious.
Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Naebers; husband, Alvin Daigle; brother Ronnie Naebers; sister Gretchen Benoit; and daughter-in-law Darla Tapley.
