Arturo Flores

Born on November 21, 1934, in Mercedes, Texas, to Jacinta M. and Antonio Flores, Arturo lived a life guided by faith, service, and deep devotion to his loved ones. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he carried the values of honor, discipline, and humility with him throughout his life.

Later in life, Arturo took an interest in classic cars. Though he wasn’t always hands-on with the restorations, he invested his time and resources into bringing vintage vehicles back to their former glory. It was a hobby that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship, history, and the beauty of preserving the past. He also found joy in reading, often spending quiet hours with a good book, always eager to learn and reflect.

Faith played a central role in Arturo's life. He rarely missed a Sunday Mass and was a longtime, devoted member of the Knights of Columbus. His presence in his parish community was one of quiet leadership and heartfelt service.

But above all, Arturo was a family man. He was the proud father of Arturo Flores, Eduardo Flores, and Jorge Flores, and a loving grandfather to five grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Arnoldo Flores, Juana Carreon, Antonia Garza and Alicia Cavazos. Nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his grandchildren — whether it was sharing stories, watching them play, or simply enjoying their company. His face lit up whenever they were near, and he treasured every moment with them.

Arturo was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Arnulfo and Arminda; his first wife, Maria V. Flores; and his second wife, Janie Flores. Though he knew the pain of loss, he never let it dim the warmth of his heart or the strength of his spirit.

He will be remembered for his steady presence, his kind soul, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. Those who knew him will carry with them the memory of a man who lived with purpose, gave without hesitation, and loved without limits.
