Avelino Hernandez Hernandez, age 74, left to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. He was born to Felipe Hernandez del Angel & Hermelinda Hernandez on November 10, 1949 in Veracruz. Avelino was a migrant worker for 30 years, traveled back and forth from Texas to Michigan. He loved fishing, gardening and cooking for his kids; his most famous recipe was his red chicken. Avelino also raised chickens and roosters; enjoyed playing poker and dominoes every night with his neighbors. He was also able to heal a lot people, as he was a well known "sobandero" in his community. Most of all, Avelino loved spending time with his grandkids. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Irma Cardenas Hernandez; his children: Juan Hernandez, Ma Elena Hernandez, Veronica Hernandez, Angela Hernandez, Fernando Ramirez Ojeda, Jose Francisco Torrez Pena, Jesse Hernandez, Adan (Yuliana) Hernandez, Rachel (Reyes) Preciado & Ruby L. (Jaime) Velazquez Meza. He will also be greatly missed by 32 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2024 from 9 am to 12 pm at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 pm at St Theresa of Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Edcouch followed by the interment at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
