Berta, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, heartfelt warmth, and unwavering love. Known for her gentle spirit and expressive eyes, Berta had a way of saying everything without ever needing words. She listened with intention, observed with care, and loved deeply.
She found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—playing Chalupa, singing with heart, savoring burgers and Coca-Cola, and spending cherished moments with the large family that adored her. Red, her favorite color, reflected her bold yet tender spirit—a beautiful balance of passion and kindness.
Aunt Berta helped raise generations of nieces and nephews with lullabies, love, and just enough stories about El Cucuy to keep us in line. Her bond with her mother was especially deep, a connection that made her a quiet pillar of strength within the family—a natural extension of the love that held us all together.
She was treasured by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and everyone blessed to know her. Though she has left this world, the memory of her laughter, love, and presence will live on in our hearts.
Berta is survived by her siblings, Lenor (Amado †) Chapa, San Juana (Pantaleon†) Yzaguirre, Teodoro (Diana) Tanguna, Martina (Gilberto) Garcia, Arminda (Irineo) Ybarra, Maria (Orlando†) Rincon, Esmeralda (Joe) Zamora and her niece Lucy (Juan) Delgado. She is preceded by her parents Silvestre and Maria Guadalupe Tanguma, Silvestre Tanguma Jr, Rigoberto Trevino, Rosa Perez, Gilberto Tanguma, and Silvestre Tanguma III.
A visitation for Berta will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM with a rosary at 7PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596.
