With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Eliseo Lara, who was born on January 22, 1942, in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Teresa and Francisco Lara. Eliseo passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at his residence in Mercedes, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.
On his journey home, he has been reunited with his beloved wife, Guadalupe Lara, his cherished daughter Teresita Lara, and his dear parents who preceded him in eternal rest.
Eliseo lived a full and vibrant life defined by resilience, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family. A loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of strength and unity through the many lives he touched. He is survived by his children: Maria (Mario) Ramirez, Guillermina Nieves, Rosalinda Lara, Norma (Samuel) Soria, Trinidad (May) Lara, Francisco (Gloria) Lara, Marina (Armando) Leal, and Eliseo (Raquel) Lara Jr.
He was the proud grandfather of 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-grandchild. Eliseo found immense joy in the laughter and accomplishments of his family, and his love for them knew no bounds.
A man of great spirit and warmth, Eliseo had a passion for music and dance. His feet never tired when there was a melody playing, and he was often the first to the dance floor, smiling and moving with contagious joy. To dance was to celebrate life—and Eliseo celebrated life with every beat.
He will be carried to his final resting place by his grandsons: Eliseo Lara III, Victor Nieves, Javier Nieves, Emilio Flores, Emanuel Lara, Ehliar Lara, Francisco Lara Jr and Zergio Ramirez, each of whom carries forward his name, strength, and memory.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in knowing that Eliseo is now dancing once again—this time in heaven—with the love of his life, Guadalupe, by his side.
He was deeply loved, and his memory will live on in each story told, each dance shared, and each life he helped shape.
